GMiS salutes Kenneth Armijo, Ph.D., on his selection as the winner of a 2021 HENAAC Award for Most Promising Engineer with a Ph.D. A native of New Mexico, Dr. Armijo is a systems engineering staff member and leads molten salt and molten alkali metals research and development at the National Solar Thermal Test Facility. This position allows him to pursue his interest in alternative energy technologies and sustainability, focusing on scientific and technological innovation.
Dr. Armijo is also deeply involved with community outreach. He is vice president of the New Mexico Professional Hispanic Engineers organization. For the past eight years, he has volunteered through Sandia’s MANOS program as co-founder and leader of family science nights (“Noche de Ciencias”) for students and their parents.
Dr. Armijo will be honored at the 2021 GMiS Conference during the Professional Awards Showcase on Tuesday, October 19th.
