GMiS 2021 STEM Hero Spotlight: 1st Lt. Pablo Buenrostro, Air Force Research Laboratory

Congratulations to 1st Lt. Pablo Buenrostro, a STEM Hero Award winner for 2021!

An active-duty Air Force officer, Lt. Buenrostro is the Fuze and Warhead Branch Principal Investigator and Portfolio Manager for the Munitions Directorate, Ordnance Division, Fuzes and Warheads Branch, Warheads Section at the Air Force Research Laboratory. 

In this role, he executes $100M+ worth of research, from basic sciences to prototypes and demonstrators. The majority of his career at AFRL has been spent working as a principal investigator for research ranging from air-to-air and reactive materials to warheads. His work impacts $110 billion or more worth of Department of Defense programs. He also worked as a portfolio manager of research covering hypersonics, selectable effects, hard target defeat, and emerging/pervasive technology. These efforts will transition to an additional $30B worth of DoD programs. 

1st. Lt. Buenrostro will be featured on October 20th at the National Defense Awards during week two of the 2021 GMiS Conference.
