Alex Lopez
Alex Lopez is Vice President, Global Sales & Marketing for the Network & Space Systems (N&SS) business within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS). In this role, he is responsible for customer engagement, new business, advocacy and marketing efforts, research and development investments, mergers and acquisitions, business unit strategy and leadership development.
Lopez joined Boeing in 1981 and has held several key positions prior to his current role. Previously, Lopez served as the N&SS vice president, chief technologist and integrator for Networks and Connectivity. His duties included finding new ways to advance technology and leverage existing capabilities to accelerate growth in the N&SS business
Prior to that, Lopez served as vice president of Advanced Network & Space Systems (AN&SS), a business element of Phantom Works within BDS, and as the site executive for the Huntington Beach, Calif. facility. In this role, he developed new and emerging technologies while bringing new business opportunities to the N&SS division.
Additionally, he served as director of Network Communications Systems, a division of N&SS, where he was responsible for developing and capturing network communications programs and providing overall Center-of-Excellence support within the C3 and System-of-Systems markets. Other positions Lopez held within the company included director of Business Development for C3 Networks; director of Integrated Government Systems; program manager of Battlespace Awareness Systems; and chief scientist of Communicating, Tracking & Locating Systems.
Lopez serves on the board of directors of Great Minds in STEM, a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping America technologically strong by promoting science, technology, engineering and math careers especially in underserved communities. In 2011, Lopez received the Corporate Achievement Award from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers for significant contributions to scientific, technical and engineering arenas within a corporation. He was also honored in 2009 with the Chairman’s Award at the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference, sponsored by Great Minds in STEM. This annual award is presented to engineers, scientists or educators who have made exceptional contributions to their profession and significantly advanced the positive image of science, mathematics and engineering professionals in our society.
Lopez holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
