GMiS founders Ray and Carmela Mellado chose October for the annual conference back in 1989 to place the event firmly within Hispanic Heritage Month.  Now in its 35^th year, the GMiS Conference continues to honor world-class Latino engineers and scientists and bring them face-to-face with students who will form the next generation of STEM professionals.
