GMiS Scholarship Types
Great Minds in STEM is grateful to have a broad portfolio of industry, government, non-profits and private donors, who are dedicated to supporting the academic pursuits of our nation’s underserved STEM students, who merit competitive academics, strong leadership, and commitment to service.
The GMiS Scholars Program awarded its first scholarship in 2000, thanks to the support of the Ford Motor Company. Since its inception, the GMiS Scholars Program has shown tremendous growth and has distributed over $4,500,000 in educational grants to over 1,500 outstanding and deserving recipients.
However, GMiS continues to seek more scholarship donors to meet the growing demand of our college-going population. Each year, GMiS receives over 1,400 scholarship applications. In addition, GMiS works to bring each of its current class of GMiS Scholars to its annual GMiS Conference, where scholars have the opportunity to meet their sponsors, participate in competitions, strengthen their career network, and seek employment opportunities. GMiS subsidizes over $950 per scholar to cover travel, hotel and registration.
