CAHSI to Commemorate 20th Anniversary at the 2026 Great Minds in STEM Conference

Great Minds in STEM (GMiS) is proud to announce that the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI) will commemorate its 20th Anniversary during the 2026 GMiS Conference, taking place September 17–19 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

As part of this milestone celebration, GMiS will feature a special tribute to CAHSI at the conference’s Route 66 Reception on Friday, September 18. The lead sponsor for the reception is Shell USA, Inc.

CAHSI’s two decades of innovation, leadership, and student success is driven by the educators, institutional partners, industry champions, non-profits, and alumni whose collective efforts have shaped the alliance’s enduring legacy. CAHSI has become a national model for inclusive excellence, helping thousands of students pursue degrees and careers in computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, and other related computing fields. Through research, mentoring, professional development, undergraduate research opportunities, and collaborations with industry, the alliance has created pathways that prepare students to thrive in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the American economy.

The partnership between GMiS and CAHSI has flourished over the past decade, bringing hundreds of computing students, faculty, and institutional leaders together each year at the GMiS Conference. Their continued collaboration has created one of the nation’s premier convenings for aspiring computing professionals, where students gain access to career opportunities, networking, technical competitions, research presentations, graduate school pathways, and direct engagement with industry leaders.

Anna M. Park, Chair of the Board of Great Minds in STEM, states: “The impact CAHSI has had over the past twenty years cannot be overstated. Their commitment to expanding opportunity, cultivating talent, and building a stronger computing workforce aligns perfectly with GMiS’ mission of ensuring STEM opportunities are accessible to all. We are honored to celebrate this milestone alongside our longtime partners.”

As CAHSI looks toward its next twenty years, the celebration at the 2026 GMiS Conference will serve not only as a tribute to its accomplishments, but also as an affirmation of the work that remains to ensure every talented student has the opportunity to help shape the future of computing.
