University of Arizona doctoral candidate awarded Corteva AgriScience scholarship

Congratulations Nicole M. Colón Carrion, University of Arizona doctoral candidate in Plant Pathology, recipient of the 2021 Corteva AgriScience Scholarship as well as GMiS Outstanding Graduate Student Leader Award Winner in Engineering!

In addition to the Corteva AgriScience Scholarship, Ms. Colón Carrion is also among four promising students selected from the pool of GMiS Scholars for 2021, representing the top of an already prestigious group of 89 outstanding recipients receiving more than $200,000 in financial support this year.

The GMiS Scholars program is a merit-based scholarship program that has recognized excellence in academics, community service, and leadership for 33 years. Awardees are talented students of Hispanic descent and/or demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community. Over $5,000,000 in scholarships has been awarded to over 1,700 college students since 2001.

In addition to receiving the scholarship, GMiS subsidizes students’ participation in the annual GMiS Conference. This year, scholars will be recognized at the virtual 2021 GMiS Conference, which is being held from October 11 – 22, 2021. Scholars will be honored and recognized during the Scholars Reception on Thursday, October 14 and the Student Leadership Awards Show on Thursday, October 21.
