Three GMiS 2021 Scholars awarded Cummins scholarships

Three Hispanic students pursuing STEM across the country were awarded scholarships from long-time sponsor Cummins as part of our Class of 2021 GMiS Scholars program, a merit-based scholarship program that has recognized excellence in academics, community service, and leadership for 33 years.

Meet the talented students who are among 89 outstanding recipients receiving more than $200,000 in financial support:

Amir Gomez-Perez
Senior, Mechanical Engineering
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez

Abraham Morales
Sophomore, Computer Engineering
Georgia Institute of Technology

Izcan Ordaz
Sophomore, Mechanical Engineering
University of Texas at Austin

In addition to receiving the scholarship, GMiS subsidizes students’ participation in the annual GMiS Conference. This year, scholars will be recognized at the virtual 2021 GMiS Conference, which is being held from October 11 – 22, 2021. Scholars will be honored and recognized during the Scholars Reception on Thursday, October 14 and the Student Leadership Awards Show on Thursday, October 21.

Congratulations students and thank you to all our sponsors and donors for their continued support of our underserved communities! The work of GMiS could not be done without your continued dedication and advocacy for our students.
